The Bobber 2.0

Starting with a 1988 BMW R100 we stripped the bike to the frame and de-tabbed the factory brackets. The factory Monoshock bikes lend themselves perfectly to the bobber build as it’s possible delete the factory subframe completely and retain the ergonomics of the original design. We’ve extended the spine of the bike to facilitate the solo seat and finished it off with a flush mount brake light. The rear suspension has been upgraded to a custom built Öhlins unit with external reservoir and adjustable dampening. The factory exhaust hangars were retained, housing both the rear turn signals and utilized for their original purpose of mounting the exhaust. We’ve modified the factory headers and collector to create an exhaust system with sufficient back-pressure and free-flowing performance.

The 1000cc engine was rebuilt to factory specs. The Mikuni carburetors were jetted and tuned to suit the custom exhaust and CNC velocity stacks. The pulse-air emissions equipment has been deleted, a fastback starter cover replaces the standard starter cover and air-box. The starter was upgraded to a lightweight hi-torque unit to compliment the lithium battery that is housed safely under the gas tank. The factory charge system was replaced with a modern upgraded unit, combining a digital ignition system with a crank mounted pickup and switchable curves.

A 1974 headlight bucket and fork ears are mounted to a 1995 BMW R100R front end. The ignition barrel is mounted in the factory position of the 70’s on the side of the headlight bucket. The internals have been upgraded to LED for brighter light and less draw on the battery.

A Motogadget Motoscope Tiny Speedometer is tucked flush with the triple. a wireless charging phone holder is mounted Renthal motocross handlebars. Hand controls are new OEM units, modified to suit the custom wiring harness. Original factory hardware was zinc plated.

We created a set of custom tubeless spoke wheels front and rear. The rims are finished in gloss black and laced with stainless spokes to matte black hubs. The frame is finished in a Semi-Gloss Black powder coat and the gas tank is finished in a two-tone Gloss-Black:Flat-Black Glasurit paint and wears custom CNC roundels.
