The Palmer Commission is our idea of The Ultimate R75. All of the strengths have been heightened and the weaknesses eradicated. The original drivetrain has been replaced with one from a 1993 R100R, rebuilt as a stroker motor and the quick ratio gearbox rebuilt into an earlier case. The front end has been upgraded with modern Ohlins upside down forks, grafted to the original frame utilizing custom machined triple tress. Unique design cues of the /5 have been preserved in the instance of the headlight bucket , the fork ears and the speedometer. The fork ears were custom made to resemble the originals but now fit over the much larger forks. the speedometer has been rebuilt with an electronic tach, receiving it’s signal from a coil pack forming the new TwinSpark Ignition system.

Brembo GP4 Calipers with a nickel finish are responsible for stopping the custom machined aluminum front wheel clad in Metzeler Race Tech rubber. The brakes are controlled via the handmade handlebars with weld on hand controls, a remote master cylinder further reduces the clutter. The original drum brake rear has been replaced with yet another Brembo GP4 Caliper.

Fuelling is taken care of by a pair of Dellorto PHM40 carburettors and actuated via an internal throttle mechanism, now riding on a bearing vs the original sleeve design.

A custom front hub is laced to an 18” Sun rim anodized black with stainless steel spokes. The rear utilizes the factory rear hub, converted to modern sealed bearings and laced to an 18” Sun rim. The gas tank, front fender and headlight bucket finished in 1967 Porsche Olive Glasurit paint and wears custom cloisonné roundels. Pinstripes are hand painted in off white in the original style.
